Thermal Grizzly AMD Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1

The AMD Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 features a hybrid structure with two different microfin sizes and a jet plate for optimized airflow. The cooler’s cold plate is made of nickel-plated copper and mounts directly onto the CPU die. This requires removing the motherboard’s Socket Actuation Mechanism (SAM), and decapitating the processor. Nickel plating the cooler plate creates a barrier layer that prevents gallium-based liquid metal from diffusing into the copper, making repeated application of liquid metal generally unnecessary.

Between the cold plate and the anodized aluminum cover is acrylic glass. After milling, the acrylic glass undergoes a tempering process to relieve internal stress. This ensures that even after extended use, stress cracks won’t form in the acrylic glass, as can occur with tempered acrylic glass. RGB LEDs are located beneath the aluminum cover, which are controlled by the motherboard via a 3-pin ARGB header (+5V/DATA/GND). The LEDs illuminate the acrylic glass beneath the cover and the G1/4-inch connectors in the cover.

Caution : Removing the heat spreader (“de-heading”) from a processor is done at your own risk! De-heading the CPU voids the manufacturer’s warranty! Damage caused by de-heading the CPU is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty!

Removing the motherboard’s Socket Actuation Mechanism (SAM) may void the motherboard manufacturer’s warranty!

Attention: The Mycro Direct-Die RGB is NOT COMPATIBLE with the Ryzen 8000G series APUs

Note on Ryzen 9000 compatibility:

According to initial internal testing, the AM5 Mycro Direct Die is compatible with AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series processors. The compatibility test only covers the standard 9000 series CPUs. Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs will be tested as soon as they become available.
